New paper out in SN Computer Science!

We’re excited to introduce CYCLOPS: a new approach for executing cloud-based scientific workflows with strong data confidentiality guarantees, without compromising performance or cost efficiency.

This work was led by Rodrigo A. P. Silva during his PhD, in collaboration with Wesley Ferreira, Esther Pacitti, Yuri Frota, and Daniel de Oliveira.

CYCLOPS tackles a key challenge: "How can we efficiently run complex, data-intensive workflows in public clouds while protecting sensitive data and preventing unintended information leakage?"

It addresses this problem by jointly optimizing workflow scheduling and data placement, rather than treating them as separate concerns.

⚠️ Important: CYCLOPS does not assume access to private or on-premise infrastructure. It is designed specifically for public cloud environments, where confidentiality must be enforced through intelligent scheduling, data dispersion, and awareness of heterogeneous security capabilities.
